The Nigerian bourse closed on negative note as the All Share Index shed 3bps today. The index is down -4.63% YTD.


IkejaHotel (+9.52%) topped the gainers chart today while NPFMCRFBK (-9.42%) topped the losers table on the day.          


FBNH led the volume chart with 51m and Guaranty led the value chart with N1.16bn.


A total of 13 stock gained points while 15 stocks lost points.


Sector Update


* The NSE Banking Index lost 18bps on Jaiz Bank (-1.67%), ETI (-1.20%) and Fidelitybk (-1.12%). Gainers were Sterlnbank (+0.87%) and Guaranty (+0.20%).


* The NSE Consumer Goods Index shed 10bps on Dangsugar (-1.24%). Gainers included Honyflour (+1.05%) and Guinness (+0.37%).


* The NSE Oil and Gas Index declined 116bps on Oando (-5.46%) and Seplat (-1.28%).


* The NSE Industrial index gained 21bps on Wapco (+3.45%) and CAP (+1.19%).


Earnings Update




Market Commentary


Value traded was down 9.25% today to $7.799m. The market was driven by crosses again today and we saw these in GTB (25m at N25 and 10m at N25.10), STANBIC (15m shares at N39.50) and FBNH (40m at N5.00). Outside of these the market was generally quiet. We expect a quiet session outside of blocks tomorrow.
